As with the Cardassian system, the Rank of General can be graded into positions as well. As such a General can have the authority of  Admiral, or Fleet Admiral depending on the individuals position in the Klingon Military.

It's important to note that whilst the Klingons do appoint titles to Military Officers, they do not actually use rank pips. The skill and prowess of an individual should be enough to prove s/he is the rank they claim to be. However the close ties with the Federation and cultural exchanges of Officer lead to the creation of these pips for Klingon use when serving on Federation vessels.
