VESSEL/SIMULATION: STARBASE 98
DIVISION: I
COMMANDING OFFICER: COMMANDER SEBASTIAN DEVRIES
EXECUTIVE OFFICER: MAJOR JARED CHURCH

-----------------
RECENT EVENTS:
- There have been an abundance of events during the course of the previous month, namely, with regard to mission parameters, Starbase 98, concluding its segment of "TF Invasion". As the largest joint mission undertaken in TF history, it is pleasing to report that Starbase 98 commanded exceptional posting quality and frequency.

- Starbase has undergone various other alterations; with regard to command, Paul Taylor, with the character of Colonel Brosus retired from TF, and as a result command befell the Executive Officer, Cian Benoit with the character of Commander Sebastian DeVries. In unison with this appointment, Bryan Waggoner, with the character of Major Jared Church was appointed as 'Acting' Executive Officer.

- Starbase 98 announced its partnership, via the TF Sister Simulation Program, with ISOT Alpha, Hawing Fleet PBEM RPG

- Starbase 98, as scheduled, is in the course of implementing expansion plans that shall see an increase in personnel and an introduction to a marine focused and support services element, namely that of the 12th Battalion Expeditionary Unit. The 12th Battalion Expeditionary Unit (12th BEU) is a force of marine personnel who can rapidly respond to any given emergency at any given period whilst also supporting a naval support service element; each of which supplements Intelligence Team IV which is an intelligence orientated specialist contingent.

- The following individuals were additionally recommended for Command School:
Major Jared Church - RECOMMENDED - for Command School
Major Jake Harper - RECOMMENDED - for Command School
Lieutenant LS von de Leur - RECOMMENDED - for Command School
Lieutenant Dyson Cole - RECOMMENDED - for Command School
Lieutenant Samuel Ryan - RECOMMENDED - for Command School

MISSION PARAMETERS:
Having concocted a concise course of action in which deter the further expansion of the alien parasite invasion, or at least to prolong it, Intelligence Team IV in unison with the newly acquired marine personnel from McNicholson Base, commenced an offensive. With three sub divisions of command, each undertaking equally essentials elements that progressed concurrently, the course of action possessed an advantageous possibility of success. Once delivered that in fact the alien parasites presumed all McNicholson Base personnel to be infected, when some were not, gifted the team the prime opportunity to penetrate the base in order to enact the plan internally heightening the success factor. Once inside main command management, each of whom would be in possession of a gas mask, "Team I" would neutralize those individuals n the surrounding proximity and disable all environment all controls. Once succeeded "Team II" would deploy and commence to deliver an inoculating gas into the base compound. "Team III" positioned beyond the perimeter would secure any fleeing personnel in order to ensure 100% success.
Meanwhile, at Starbase 98, the orbital facility offensively acquired by the parasites, was subject to a barrage of assaults emanating from a Fleet of Federation vessels commanded by Admiral Helen Kent. With Intelligence Team IV unable to deliver any communication during the course of the previous weeks, the worst was presumed and thus StarFleet deployed a force in which to attempt to "clean up". With McNicholson Base secured by the StarFleet contingent, Starbase 98 had all but fallen. In a last attempt, Admiral Thomas, the host parasite, contacted McNicholson Base to request assistance, however in a sneak tactic, Intelligence Team IV undertook the guise of a contingent of the parasitic force.

With Admiral Thomas issuing the order to deploy the fighter wing to aid, he was persuaded otherwise to retreat and regroup on McNicholson Base in order to solidify their collective position. Lowering the shields as instructed in which to transport him and all infected personnel to McNicholson Base, they were, in all eventuality, being transported into a chamber containing the inoculant gas, which would ultimately, kill them. Amidst the activities upon Starbase 98, the beckoned a possible disaster from an unknown foe. The USS Phoenix NCC-79625, upon departure from Deep Space Nine in preparation for its maiden assignment, was tasked the responsibility to rendezvous with the Steamrunner Class, USS Republic NCC-68214, in order to transport Federation Ambassador Johnathon Young aboard for subsequent deliverance to Cardassia Prime for diplomatic conferencing with representatives of the Cardassian Union, Klingon Empire and Romulan Star Empire with the purpose of furthering the alliance and devising various initiatives with regard to the re-establishment effort. Journeying for approximately twenty-six hours to the pre-defined rendezvous co-ordinates to subsequently transport Ambassador Young, both Federation vessels prepared to initialise the deliverance when three vessels de-cloak and commence a barrage of assaults. Unable to decipher the aggressors due to the failure of the sensor array, both the Phoenix and Republic commence to defend one another. With primary focus to the conflict, neither vessel speculates to the reason governing the attack, as should they survive investigations would provide somewhat conclusive evidence. With the successful defence against one vessel and inflicting substantial damage upon the other two, but not without sustaining damage and extensive casualties, especially to the Republic, the Phoenix transports the remaining crew from the Republic aboard and prepares to crash land upon the underlying uninhabited planet. As relevant and non-injured personnel commence operation in their respective assignment spheres albeit through repairs, analysing sensor logs, fortifying the perimeter, catering for the Federation Ambassador or delegating resources, unbeknownst to the StarFleet personnel, is the transportation of the aggressors onto the planetoid in order to terminate their prey, but with a primary objective additionally in sight.

VESSEL: USS HYPERION
COMMANDING OFFICER: CAPT. MICHEAL BRANDEL
EXECUTIVE OFFICER: LT. HANNAH O'HALLORAN (ACTING)

The past few months on Hyperion saw the USS Hyperion coming from shoreleave and going to space station 53. Space station 53 was a privately owned space station and suddenly there is an explosion. The owner, Ross Keyser calls for help and the Federation sends the USS Hyperion to go help and find out who the is responsible for the explosion. When the Hyperion arrives, they automatically launch their fighters to create a blockade to not allow any ships to leave. Then the Hyperion sent over an engineering and security team to secure the space station. As soon as they are on the station, they start beaming over casualties to the Hyperion's sickbay and to cargo bay 2 where a triage was set up. . While on the base, Kiara Sumrak security officer and intel officer, finds something interesting and reports it to Intel.

CMO Dr. Thomas O'Halloran and surgeon, Osron were in cargo bay 2 setting up triage and seeing who needed to be sent to sickbay immediately. In sickbay, ACMO Dr. Hannah O'Halloran with the help of the EMH Mindy were busy working. Hannah, who was about 6 months pregnant with twins was having a tough time dealing with all the wounded. Suddenly she loses it and Seriva Damu the counsellor who is also overwhelmed instead of contacting Thomas via comm she goes and gets him personally from the cargo bay. Once Thomas arrives, he gives Hannah a sedative and takes her to their quarters and makes Hannah rest. He then goes back to his work.

On the bridge, Captain Brandel is busy monitoring the fighters. One of the fighters notices a ship trying to break from the blockade. LT Strazzco and LT(jg) Drakov board the Yoko to investigate the situation.

Back on the bridge, Captain Brandel receives an interesting message from Starfleet command. They have finally found a new XO to replace the spot Captain Brandel left when he moved up to the CO spot. Captain Brandel is perplexed and stunned at Starfleet's selection. He calls LT Hannah O'Halloran, the ACMO into his office. Hannah, not sure why the Captain wants to see her, goes to the bridge and is led into the Captain's ready room. When Hannah enters, Captain Brandel tells her that she has been appointed his new Acting XO. Hannah is stunned at this. Captain Brandel asks Hannah to enlighten her and Hannah, realizing her Admiral father had a hand in this confides a secret from Hannah's past. After she is finished with her meeting with Captain Brandel, Hannah goes back to her to tell Thomas the news. Thomas isn't too pleased at the news,

Brandel goes with the Chief Diplomatic officer LT Jean-Paul Desaix to search a freighter. After the search Brandel goes back to the Hyperion and has a run in with Thomas. After the run in Brandel heads back to the bridge.

Andrews is taken hostage by a runaway ship from the blockade. Hannah, for her first duties as the new XO she is sent to go after the runaway ship and rescue Andrews, who is then sent to sickbay and has to be sedated due to some mind problems that was done to him on the Cass'va. Meanwhile, Sumrak fills Brandel in about the posibility that the "race" could possibly be involved with the bombing of the station. In sickbay, Thomas tries to work on Andrews but he isn't successful. He calls in Seriva who tries to go into his mind to help but is unsuccessful. Seriva and Thomas then have a confrontation about Hannah and Seriva's duties of late, and that causes Seriva to start having insecurities again and she has a breakdown in her quarters. Brandel finds her and takes her to sickbay.

Over on the Yoko Ono, Strazzco and Drakov find out that the Jem Hadar are just a ruse. Strazzco has the freighter secured and then heads back. Desaix discovers some disturbing evidence and calls a meeting with Brandel, Hannah McManus, Gordon, Kirsa, Bishop and West. He reveils that Stelazine (spin) is being sold. He and Bishop set up a sting. Hannah goes and informs Thomas about it. Meanwhile, Osron, doing autopsies finds traces of the Stelazine on about 25% of the bodies. One of them being a Rear Admiral. He calls down Thomas who comes and together they go and fill in Captain Brandel. Hannah wakes up from her nap in Thomas' office and finds Seriva as a patient in sickbay. The two talk and it's decided that Seriva will take over the care of the newborn baby that Thomas had delivered about a week before. Reyaga realizes that he is being kept out of some of the investigation and after accessing Gordon's file he sees the evidence. He goes to talk to the Captain about it. Andrews finally comes around and it's discovered that he was given Psycosel. Thomas does some checking about the rear admiral and discovers that she and her ship the USS Nagasaki were regulars to the station. Meanwhile, Ross Keyser, the station owner, is worried that his dark secrets will be reveiled.

Sumrak met with another intelligence officer by the name of Pionex. He asked to be set up with a meeting with Brandel. When Brandel met with him and Sumrak, Pionex confessed to being the space station's owner, Ross Keyser's son. He also told them that Keyser was behind all of this. He wanted to see his dad arrested. They plan to set up a sting to catch Keyser in the act. Afterwards Sumrak and Brandel spent some time together. Hannah, upon hearing about how many are affected by the "spin" gets upset and confessed to Thomas about her twin sister who died from the "spin". O'Halloran, Osron and even Azul tried to help Andrews with his illness. Andrews finally came out of it but he still had a lot of side effects from what happened to him. Meanwhile Reyaga finds out about the Race's involvement in the bombing and goes to confront Brandel because he was kept this information. While there Reyaga cofesses to the Race's plans and also tells about his Ginger addiction. He then collapses. Brandel calls for medical and Reyaga is taken to sickbay where upon an exam it is discovered that his Ginger was tampered with and "spin" was mixed in.

Another explosion happens on the space station at the outlaw bar. Strazzco and Pretor were injured. Thomas and his Team go and find them. Before getting there Stazzco and Pretor were able to move but they got underneath a stairway and it collapses and gravely injures Strazzco. Thomas gets there and is almost unsuccessful in keeping Strazzco alive, but he is able to get him stablized and the two are transported to sickbay.

Brandel gets orders from Starfleet that another ship is on the way and that the Hyperion is to head for Betazed for a quick shoreleave and then go to earth to join the forces to stop the Race's invasion. But first Brandel orders the sting and after some time Keyser is caught and arrested. A search is done on the other ships at the station and only three of them, the SS Yoko Ono, the SS Cass'Va and the SS Valiant were found to have the "spin" on them. After the arrests of both Keyser and Pionex, his arrest to not give away his true identity, the Hyperion heads for Betazed.

On the way, Hannah goes into labor and gives birth to the twins, both girls. Hannah and Thomas name them Alexandria Nicole and Amanda Grace. Brandel spends some time with Kiara Sumrak in her quarters. Meanwhile waiting for the Hyperion at Betazed or making their way to Betazed to join the Hyperion are the Hyperion's new CSO Ensign Endu Sarvot, and her half sister, Ensign Eyri Sutton, who doesn't know that they will be together on the Hyperion will be the Assistant CSO. Also waiting is the new ACEO, Ensign Debby Shackleton. All three had just graduated from the academy and are excited about their first assignment.

When the Hyperion reaches Betazed, LT CDR Frank Azul, the CEO and LT CDR Seriva Damu, the Counselor get married in a traditional Betazed wedding. With the Hyperion finally at Betazed, the new crew members, Ensign Debby Shackleton, half sisters Ensign Endu Sarvot and Ensign Eyri M. Sutton and Ensign Matu Brend'ell come aboard. Also CDR Skeksis joins the Hyperion coming from a non federation ship to the Hyperion. While at Betazed, LT CDR Frank Azul the CEO and LT CDR Seriva Damu the Counselor get married in a traditional Betazed wedding. After the wedding Hannah starts experiencing post partum depression and she takes out her frustrations on Ensign Endu Sarvot, who had earlier flirted with Hannah's husband. LT Tigana Dianora, Ensign Alexis Gordon, Chief Warrant officer(Second) Joshua Hawkins and LT(jg) Ivan Drakov are reassigned. Captain Brandel and MCapt Kiara Sumrak spend some time together. Reyaga who had been in sickbay because of a ginger addiction finally comes too. He realizes that the "Race is due soon for their attack on earth. While meeting with Captain Brandel, news comes that the attack has begun and the Hyperion is ordered to earth where the "Race has begun their attack on the Utopia shipyards.

Mission 15: Invasion

What started as a brief shoreleave for the crew of the USS Casey soon turned to something far more heartwrenching then they could have ever suspected. As a mysterious probe arrives to Deep Space Nine and a sudden spark of unknown activity explodes to life in the Badlands, Colonel Kira informs the Casey Command Team of the disappearance of the Nagus. In an effort to find him before something happens, the runabout 'Reynolds' is dispatched.

After receiving word that the 'Reynolds' itself has disappeared, the Casey departs in hopes to not only retrieve it's runabout and the Nagus, but to investigate the heightened amount of activity in the Badlands. It is then that the Casey picks up it's enemies.. a monster 18 ship fleet.. emerging from ahead. Closing in on the Casey, the fleet alarms the ship when all but 3 ships suddenly turn around. As the Casey engages battle.. the parasites swarm the crew...

Once the shoot em up, bang bang rounds take place and the parasites have succeeded in infecting and killing members of the crew.. the biggest tragedy takes place.. as Captain McNeil is lost. Taking control of the Casey, Commander Pike secures the rescued Nagus and plans to engage the 'Reynolds' whom is carrying an infected crew and the Mother Bug itself.. en route back to Deep Space Nine.

However, they are jinxed as the remaining ships of the fleet once again begin to emerge.. outgunned and overpowered, the crew makes a critical decision and decides to deceive the infected fleet in order to escape it. Having succeeded with their plan, the Casey puts the 'pedal to the metal' and intercepts the 'Reynolds' 20 minutes out from Deep Space Nine. Emitting a deflector pulse and tractor beaming the runabout, a 3 man team is sent over to secure the area for beaming out of the crew..

Unbeknownst to the away team itself, the Mother Bug had faked it's unconsciousness and in a flash springs to life, attacking the group and allowing itself to be beamed back onboard the Casey. There, with the combined help of the Science and Medical Departments, Commander Pike and a group of Security Officers manage to elimate the parasites once and for all..

Docking at Deep Space Nine, Pike issues a much needed shoreleave as new crew begin to arrive..

VESSEL: USS Edison
DIVISION: III
ACTING Commanding Officer: Commander Will Drab
ACTING Executive Officer: Lieutenant Christian Verona

The Edison's involvement in the Invasion mission was a tough one. While at Earth we reveived mysterious orders to rendezvois with the USS Malinche for an unknown reason. Deciding to risk it, Captain Stelatelle took his crew to the specified coordinates. Upon arriving we discovered a very strange Malinche crew. We were told they had cargo for us to deliver to Starbase 98, and that they couldn't provide any information regarding the request nor the cargo. I lead a small away team over to the Malinche, as her Captain claimed that it could not be transported. Upon our arrival, Ensign Chocrane (posing as a Medical Officer) infiltrated their Sickbay to see what secrets he could find. Meanwhile, myself and a few others were escorted to a cargobay to inspect the package.

In our absence, Lt jg Verona was overpowered and infected with an alien being. He was quickly discovered by our own crew, who were able to create a syrum to repel the creature, which was administered just in time. It was at that point that our suspisions about the Malinche crew were confirmed, although it wasn't until later that we discovered what was *really* going on. The Edison away team were locked into the cargo bay, where we managed to send a covert transmission to the Edison advising them of our situation. They were able to beam in a security detail, whom helped overpower some of the Malinche officers and rescue us. They were also able to add a chemical weapon into the Malinche's environmental systems, which was designed to disrup the hold the creatures had on the Malinche crew. But, unkown to the Edison, their plan did not quite work. Also, before we could all depart, I was transporter elsewhere on the Malinche and they were forced to return to the Edison without me. I was then immediately infected with an alien parasite.
------------------------------------------------
There was a tense wait on the Edison, as I was MIA, and a few security guards were KIA on the Malinche. But within hours a fire-fight errupted on the Malinche, with the crew all firing at eachother. Now infested, I sent a transmission to the Edison requesting beam-out. When the Edison lowered her shields, I also transported more of the parasites onto the Edison.
Convinced that something was wrong, a Security detail was dispatched to locate and detain myself. Barely able to escape capture, I managed to infect more crewmembers and have them follow my cause.

Numerous chases ensued all over the ship. However, the number of infected crewmembers quickly rose (including many senior staff) and the hosts were able to fight back. As a result, most were confined to their quarters, which proved quite unbarable for some. The Edison Science and Medical teams set out to create a cure for the parasites. The main problem was to get rid of the parasite without killing the hosts. They knew that the parasites would only leave if the host was dead or dying, so a somewhat painfull treatement was devised to make the host bodies un-desirable for the parasites.

Meanwhile, many battles are fought all over the ship, and very little is left intact in Main Engineering, where almost every panal is destroyed. The Captain and Lt jg Pax plan to clear every deck on the ship (one at a time) of infected crewmen by transporting them into a cargo bay, where they will then be prepared for the new treatement. The operation is succesful until they reach Main Engineering, where I had set up a forcefield to prevent transportation. I then beam the Captain to a dark location on the ship where he is infected with a parasite also. However, within minutes, our location is found and I am captured, but the infected Captain escapes the security officers. He made his way down to Main Engineering where he rigs it to explode while I am taken to Sickbay for treatement. Upon his recovery, I was made aware of the situation in Engineering and I immediately went there to stop my CO.

A tense situation ensued where I was almost forced to kill Captain Stelatelle, however another fire-fight errupted and all Infected personnel in that area were disabled.
----------------------------------------

BRENDA WARNER INTERVIEW

1. You have been in Tangofleet for a while now, what is the single word that you think best describes it?
Fun

2. You have been many characters, could you please name them and state where they are assigned to at the moment.
Well my first character is LT(jg) Sherry Tiqlek.. She was originally on the AZ but is now on the Edison, then There's LT Hannah O'Halloran who is the acting XO. Then on the Pegasus I portray LT CDR Anna Mac Shay the CMO and LT(jg) Hope Thornton ACMO on the Casey LT Melissa Bottomley, Istructor and CMO at the Academy. Oh and I am still on the AZ but as a new char LT Shoshanah Sima Head Nurse.

3. All of your characters are from a medical background, is there any particular reason?
Well one of my life's ambitions at one time had been to be either a doctor or nurse, but then I got married before I could fulfill that... but now I'm hoping to go back to school and get a teaching degree in special education...my two older children are special education kids and I've seen the big need for them.

4. You have recently been made Executive Officer of the USS Hyperion, what are your plans for the future of her?
That's a hard question to answer.. My biggest thing is to help Nick get her back on her feet which seems to be working. She's a great ship and the crew has been wonderful in helping me in my new position. Hopefully with both my and Nick's leadership we can make her a great ship in TF.

5. Out of all of your positions, which would you say is the most challenging, is it the most rewarding?
I would say my position as an instructor. It's hard work sometimes training these new cadets but it's also the most rewarding especially when you see how good they do once they go into the fleet to their prospective ships.

6. Do you think that Tangofleet has changed your life for the better?
I think so.. It's really helped me be able to fulfill one of my other goals in life, to be able to do creative writing. I'm not sure if it's for the better or not though hehe seems that on weekends my husband and I fight over the computer now. But it's also given both him and I one more thing in common to do together which I feel has made it better for our marriage.

7. Are you satisfied with the way Tangofleet coped with the recent events?
Yes I am.. As an American it was very encouraging to see all the support and well wishes from everyone especially from those people who live in different countries. This tragedy that we have suffered in the US has effected us all and it's great to have the support and encouragement to help with the healing part which will take a long time I feel. but as I do with anything else I just take it one day at a time

8. What changes if any do you think would be good for Tangofleet?
You sure like giving me tough questions hehe... I'm not really sure.. right now I think Tangofleet is good. I really don't see a lot of changes since Kreg has become our new CinC, things have been changing so I'll just watch and see what those are and hope they're for the good of the fleet.

9. What do you think the future will hold for Tangofleet?
I think the future of tangofleet looks bright. We came through a crisis better for it. We have a new CinC who is wanting to make Tangofleet the best and we're growing again which is good. I feel Tangofleet is a great fleet and is a fun place to go especially when real life can get you down.

MATTHEW GRANT INTERVIEW

1. Matt, you have been in Tangofleet for quite a while now, what various guises have you played, and which have you enjoyed playing the most?
Well, I started on the Octavian back in Jan 98, playing Sporak, the Stellar Cartographer, who still survives as an Instructor at the Academy. I've also played characters on the USS Hyperion, USS Lancelot, USS Cambrian and SB98. However, my main TF characters have been Captains Nicolai Stolichnaya and Shauna McNeil on the USS Casey, where I served for 3 years, including 2 as COI'm now CO of the Pegasus, playing Captain Francois Neidermeyer. If you ask me which one I enjoyed playing most, the answer would be myself, the guy who hangs around all day playing the game and dealing with Fleet issues. I've been a DA for 12 months and seen a lot of changes in the Fleet, a number of which I've helped out with. And dealing with people on a daily basis is why I like that most.

2. What is the biggest thing in Tangofleet which appeals to you?
The thing that appeals to me most is the idea of the game itself. TF has about 250 playing the game. These people come from all over the world, I'd say at least 30 countries so far. They are all different ages, religions, political views, personalities. Yet despite these differences, TF remains strong because we have 2 things in common: A love of Star Trek and a desire to have fun. For me, it's the people in the game that make it.

3. Is there any aspect of Tangofleet that you find annoying or illogical, that you would change?
I think recent changes have eliminated most of those things. I am a bit frustrated that the game is inherently slow in the way it operates behind the scenes. Emails are sent to people, they take a day or so to be read, a couple more to be acted on, and things slow down. But that is something that you can't fix, it's a by-product of the places people live, I've seen that over the 4 years. I've been in TF, you just have to live with it. It's noone's fault, it's more a reason for us all to learn a bit of patience. People are doing their best, and for me, that's good enough.

4. In your long running career in Tangofleet, how do you think you have changed it the most, and what change are you the most proud of?
What I'm most proud of is the friendships I've forged with a lot of different people. I've lost count of how many people I've served with, it would probably be hundreds, there were 80 on the Casey alone in the 3 years I was there. Hopefully, my main impact has been helping some of the people who now hold more senior positions in the Fleet, giving them support and advice where needed. TF is always losing and gaining people, so having people ready to take on roles if they become vacant is an important thing that needs to be done.

5. What do you think is the best thing that Tangofleet offers people?
The chance to meet people and enjoy the game. You can't do much better than that.

6. Do you think that Tangofleet is a form of escapism?
Yes, and rightly so. Along with diverse, imaginative is probably another word you could use to describe the people in TF. Using your imagination is a good thing, it's a tough world out there, and the time we spend using our minds and enjoying it helps us to face it. If we can do something constructive with our imagination, that can't be a bad thing.

7. What single word would you use to describe the people you have met through Tangofleet?
Diverse

8. What would you say kept your interest though out your time in Tangofleet?
Always taking on new roles in different parts of the game. I enjoy trying new things and meeting new challenges, so that keeps my interest fairly well.

9. Is there anything that you wish you'd accomplished in Tangofleet which you haven't?
At this point in time, no, my goals right now are to have fun and help people have fun, they haven't always been that simple, and they may not stay like that forever. But I am doing my best to meet those goals, so that keeps me happy. Oh, did you want me to talk about my plans for dominating TF in a tyrannical regime? That could be a later goal

10. Where do you see Tangofleet in three years time?
Hopefully still going strong, hopefully a bit larger. But the core reason for our existence shouldn't change. We're about having fun with people from all over the world, and I hope the world never ceases to find that useful.
